This e-book is a hidden treasure... "This e-book is a hidden treasure! It covers everything I wanted to know about traditional bows, and how to build one. I especially liked the short historical background to each section. Now to the workshop.."

This book is as advertised and a worthy addition to any library... "I know that a lot of work went into research and coordination to get all the links to function demonstrating a traditional craft. I could have used it years ago while working with osage flat bows. Video segments included are worth the price. This book is as advertised and a worthy addition to any library."

This is the book I should have bought a long time ago... "I have read the book with great interest. I am a Luthier, (musical instrument maker), and have been interested in making a bow for myself for some time now. This is the book I should have bought a long time ago. I would own a bow by now. I can't wait to get to the timber yard and get started. The book has everything I need to know. I just hope my first endeavour will be good enough."

Thank you for a great book... “Thank you for a great book! I really like the thorough descriptions of the different types of bows that you can build. That way I can get started with an easy type of bow and advance later. I also like that all the details are very precise. I’m sure the end result will be excellent! I’m a hunter so it was very interesting to read and learn about the amount of damage an arrow can cause on the target.”

...this is the best e-book I have found! "I am new to bow making and have spent lot of time looking at YouTube and other sites. As I am just starting to build number 1, a  traditional longbow, this is the best e-book I have found. Very clear instructions with good video clips and diagrams and easy to follow."

...Highly recommended!! "An excellent bowbuilding resource! I found this eBook while searching for information on building the Holmegaard bow. I am very glad I found it! This is an excellent resource for my bowmaking!

A unique and very helpful feature that can only be provided in an eBook is the mix of verbal instruction, high quality color photos, and video instructions. The videos are very well done and show you exactly what the required steps are and how to do them. The video links are in-line with the text, so it is very easy to watch the video and then go right back to where you were in the text.

The book teaches you how to make backed bows, with a laminated backing over a core wood, and also how to make a self bow out of one piece of bow wood. The Holmegaard style bow is only one of many you can build with these instructions. You can begin with a cured stave, cut from a tree or you can get a board from you local hardwood store.

One bonus in the book is the instructions on making a Flemish twist bowstring. The author shows (again, verbal description, photos and video) how to make this style of bowstring using a jig design that I have never seen before. With this jig, you can quickly and easily make a double loop Flemish Twist bowstring to the exact length you need. I usually make my Flemish strings with a loop on one end and I leave the other end straight so that I can use a Bowyer's Knot for its adjustability. Of course this jig will let you do that as well. Very fast and easy!

You willl also learn to make several styles of arrows and a arrow bag (quiver). The book doesn't discuss hunting arrows with broadheads very much, but the difference is just in putting a different type of head on your arrows.

My experience level is that I have made two bows. One broke and the second is shooting nicely. One problem with a lot of the information that is available to the beginner is that lots is left out because it is second nature to the experience bowyers writing the instructions. This eBook does an excellent job of filling in those gaps, so it is perfect for the beginner as well as the internediate or even the advanced bowmaker. I will use this information for building my next bows!

Highly recommended!!"
